Using Virtual Reality And Games In Healthy Aging

Young adults with intellectual disabilities can experience cognitive decline earlier and are a population in which Mild Neurocognitive Decline and dementia are likely underdiagnosed. Spatial navigation has been identified as a key indicator of mild cognitive decline, and Virtual Reality has been proposed as a potential tool to address this issue. In response, the first part of our talk will describe a codesign methodology that is being used to develop a VR platform to assess spatial navigational skills in individuals with Intellectual Disability. Additionally, we will describe how EEG data is being used to validate the platform’s effectiveness.
